Rebels Move Into Second Place Overall

The Rebels defeated the Woodpeckers and are now in a 3 way tie for second place and are just 2 points out of first. The Rebels opened the scoring early when Kyle found the back of the net just 44 seconds in. The Woodpeckers came right back though and scored just under a minute later to tie things up. On the powerplay, Kevin was able to score to give the Rebels the lead to end the first half. The second half remained scoreless until the grinder line stepped up once again when Dean was able to tip the ball in off a pass from Ryan. Nestor played a solid game with more than a few highlight reel saves to ensure the win.

Rebels Defeat First Place Team

The Rebels handed the Entourage only their second loss of the season outscoring them by a score of 4-2. The whole team contributed to this win as all lines worked very hard. The Entourage got on the board first but the Rebels answered back shortly after with a goal by Mike to deadlock both teams at 1 a piece going into the second half. The grinder line (or as Dean likes to call it, the "Rudy Line") got the team energized with some great pressure in the second and Dean was able to capitalize getting one passed their netminder. Curt then gave the Rebels a 2 goal cushion with a point shot but the Entourage came back and scored to come within 1. Dustin put the nail in the coffin though just over 2 minutes later. The Rebels are now 2 points out of second place in the tier and 4 points out of first and have a game in hand over most of the teams in front of them.

Rebels Get Overtime Win To Achieve Milestone

The Rebels scored in overtime against the Knowlton Gnashers to bring their win total to 6 which now gives them the most wins in a winter season in the history of the team, and the season isn't even half over! It wasn't their best game of the season; the communication wasn't there which lead to a lot of confusion as to where everyone should be positioned. Cody did open the scoring for the Rebels though and ended his 3 game scoring drought but the Gnashers answered back just a few minutes later to end the first half tied at 1. Not much happened in the second half until Kevin was able to bang the ball in after Mike and Scott took a few swipes at an open net with just over 2 minutes remaining. Then, with the their goalie pulled and the extra attacker on, the Gnashers were able to tie things up with just 8 seconds remaining to force overtime. The Gnashers took a body checking penalty early into OT with a hit on Kevin which would give the Rebels the powerplay for 5 minutes. The Rebels actually started communicating then and got set up in the zone. A quick pass back to Devin on the point and his slapshot past the goalie gave the Rebels the win.

Rebels Tie Win Record For Winter Seasons

The Rebels beat the Drillers 6-4 in a game where the reffing was the exact opposite of the previous game. With just 2 minutes worth of penalties called the entire game it made this match up a lot less frustrating. Kevin netted a hat trick and added an assist for a 4 point night. Mike posted 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points and Dustin added a goal and 3 assists for 4 points total. The Rebels now have 5 wins on the season which ties their best Winter Season record set in 2007/2008 where they went 5-17-2. The team is well on their way to beating that record and securing a playoff spot for the first time since the 2005/2006 Winter Season.

Rebels Winning Streak Comes To An End

It's become inevitable that at least once per season the Rebels are involved in a game where the reffing is a complete travesty and this was one of those games. There was a total of 86 penalty minutes assessed between both teams most of which were questionable from both sides. At one point the three refs were so confused at how the penalties were to be served that they managed to run 8 minutes off the clock in the second half. This coupled with the fact the the Rebels had a very short bench lead to High Octane getting their first win of the season by a score of 5-4. On the positive side however, Paul got two great one-timer goals and almost had the hat trick in the dying seconds but the cross bar got in the way. Dustin had the other two goal for the Rebels and also added an assist for a 3 point night.

Rebels Silence Thunder

The Rebels managed to hold on to their early lead to give them their 4th win of the season. The Rebels came out of the gate hard scoring 5 straight goals against the Thunder in the first 21 minutes of the game. The Thunder did answer back late in the period but it looked as though the game was shaping up to be a blow out. The second half was all Thunder though as the Rebels lost all their energy and offense allowing the Thunder to dominate, scoring another 3 goals and coming to within 1 of tying the game. Nestor played solid though and handled the barrage to help the Rebels hang on for the win. Kyle came out as a last minute replacement to help fill up a short bench and he stepped up scoring a hat trick and adding an assist. Mike had the other 2 goals and posted 3 assists for a 5 point night.

Rebels Beat The Football Team

The Rebels pretty much dominated the game, beating the Stallions 3-1. As was the case in their last meeting the Stallions played more like a football team than a hockey team with all the hits they were throwing. As a result their team became very frustrated but the Rebels kept their cool which helped get the win. Cody had two goals, both assisted by Kevin, and Mike added the last goal for the Rebels. The Stallions broke Mark's shut out bid with just 45 seconds remaining in the game. The Rebels are now 3-2 on the season which actually marks the first time the team has been above .500 in the 5 winter season they have played!

Rebels Come From Behind To Take The Win

The Rebels scored two late goals to give them the win over the Crimson Ghosts by a score of 5-4. The first half ended with each team at one goal a piece but during the second things broke wide open. The Crimson Ghosts took the early lead but the Rebels came back with two goals to give them the lead. The Ghosts then came up with two unanswered goals of their own to retake the lead. The Rebels managed to tie thing up with just over a a minute and a half remaining. They kept the pressure on and were able to get the winner with just thirty seconds left in the game. Cody and Mike both tallied 2 goals each along with one assist each for 3 points and Kevin came in with the winning goal and also added an assist for a two point night (morning).

Rebels Get Cut Down By Lumber Jacks

The Rebels played a strong game but still came up short losing to the Lumber Jacks 5-4. The Rebels led going into the half way mark of the second half but the Lumber Jacks managed to add another two goals just four minutes apart to take the lead and despite the Rebels coming back hard they still managed to hang on for the win. Cody had yet another strong game tallying 2 more goals to bring his point total to 8 in three games. Mike found his groove and helped out with a goal and an assist for a 2 point night.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Rebels Come Alive Against Zombies

The Rebels managed to stay out of the penalty box for the entire game which helped them cruise to an easy 7-2 victory over the Zombies. Cody got the hat trick an added an assist which puts him at top of the entire division with 6 points total. Ryan and Dustin tallied two points each and Mark played very solid between the pipes.

Rebels Come Up Short In Season Opener

The winter season FINALLY got underway on Sunday in the newly renovated Castledowns arena. The Rebels came up short though in a penalty and fight ridden game losing to the Mafia 3-2. Cody scored both goals for the team and Ryan played a solid game as the last minute goalie addition.

Rebels Season Ends

The Rebels not only needed to win this game but they needed to win by a minimum of three goals in order to advance to the Semi finals. By the end of the first half versus Team Chaos we were doing just that. We were up by a score of 5-2 with the help of two goals in a row from Neil. The second half is where we fell apart though, being outscored 5-1 to hand us a 7-6 loss and a premature exit from the playoffs. Overall it was another good run for the Rebels as we kept our tradition of improving every season. We'll come back stronger next summer to make sure we get the championship!

Rebels Lose First Playoff Game

The Rebels lost their first game of the quarter final round robin by a narrow margin of 3-2 versus the Bullies. The Rebels were up 2-0 by the halfway point of the 1st and it looked like we had it in the bag but then somehow the tide turned and it became all Bullies as they scored 2 to tie it up. They then scored the go ahead goal with just under 3 minutes remaining in the game. Nestor was pulled in favour of the extra attacker and we scrambled to try and get the tieing goal but it never came. Our season is not done yet though... If Team Chaos beats the Bullies and we beat Team Chaos that will put all three teams with 1 win and 1 loss and the team that will advance will be the one with the best goal differential.

Rebels Wipe Out The Plague

The Rebels took an easy win for their last game of the season defeating The Plague by a score of 7-2. John netted a hat trick and added an assist for a 4 point night while Kevin came back into winning form with 5 points and Kyle was close behind with 3. The Rebels end their season in 4th place with a 16-7-1 record for 33 points. This is an improvement from last year where their record was 16-8-0 for 32 points and a 6th place finish.

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Rebels Lose to Ringers 6-2

The Rebels lost 6-2 to the Ringers. Despite the parade to the penalty box by the opponents we were still unable to capitalize even with two 5 on 3 powerplays. The loss leap frogs the Ringers ahead of the Rebels putting us in 5th place overall. With just one game left in the season the Rebels can still finish anywhere between 3rd and 6th place in the division.

Monday, July 14, 2008

Rebels Beat Les Gros Bec 4-2

The Rebels beat "The Big Kiss" for the second time this season with the final score this time around ending 4-2. Les Gros Bec got on the scoreboard first and the first half ended with them in the lead. 7 seconds into the second half the Rebels finally got on the board with a goal from Kyle. Exactly one minute later the Rebels took the lead off Kyle's second goal of the night. The French team managed to tie it up half way through the second and it stayed that way until five minutes left in the game when Scott tipped the ball past the netminder off a point shot from Curt. Les Gros Bec pressed hard in the last few minutes but Dustin, filling in for Nestor in goal, played well to keep the ball out even during a penalty kill and the opposing goalie out of the net. In the dying seconds of the game Mark fed a hail mary pass to Kyle coming out of the penalty box and he went in alone to score on an empty net to seal the deal and give him his hat trick. We now sit in third place in the division and with two games remaining we could still end up anywhere between 1st and 7th place overall.

Percentages Work Against The Rebels

5 Percent had a short bench to start the game and then went down even more when 3 players got ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct. So this should have been a case of us running them out of steam and then taking the easy win but it turned out the exact opposite. The Rebels just didn't have things going their way at any point of the game. Bad bounces, not capitalizing on a 5 minute powerplay and then a 5 on 3 powerplay etc resulted in a 5-2 loss. Scott and Dean were the only two contributers to the scoreboard and somehow, for the first time this season, Kyle and Kevin did not get any points at all. The loss now moves the Rebels to 4th place in the division.

Monday, July 07, 2008

Rebels Beat Razorbacks in Second Meeting

The Rebels beat the Razorbacks for the second time this year, this time the score ending 4-1. Kyle, Cody and Kevin all had 3 point nights and John added yet another of his shorthanded goals. The Rebels are in a tie for second place overall in the division and just 3 points out of first place. Two other teams are only 1 point behind us though and another one just 2 points behind. With just 4 games remaining the wins become even more crucial as it could be the difference between us finishing the regular season anywhere from first place to as low as seventh place.

Wednesday, July 02, 2008

Rebels Get "Free" Win

The Rebels got a win by default due to the Tin Bashers not having enough players show up to play the game. This "freebie" now puts us in a 3 way tie for second place overall in the division and just one point ahead of two other teams.

Rebels Win Against Second Place Bullies

In a complete turnaround from last game the Rebels won this game 6-1. It seems the Bullies had the same frustrations we did during the previous game; things just weren't clicking. Everything was clicking for the Rebels though and it resulted in us being up 6-0 and included 2 short handed goals. It wasn't until the 5 minute mark of the final frame that the Bullies were finally able to sneak one past Nestor, who played a fantastic game. John had a 3 point night including a huge individual effort to get a short handed goal. All goals were scored by different players and it's good to see that more of the team is contributing to take the weight of Kyle and Kevin.

Rebels Lose to 1st Place Warriors

The Rebels were downed 5-1 by the first place Ultimate Warriors. We had our fair share of chances but just weren't able to translate that onto the scoreboard. It was one of those odd games where things just didn't go our way. Kyle scored the lone goal to break the shut out with assists from Kevin and Neil. The loss now leaves the all time record between our two teams at 2-6-0. Next up is another pivotal game against the second place Bullies.

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Rebels Bust Out The Goals

The Rebels beat out the Goalbusters 10-4 in a mainly one sided affair. Nestor did face a ton of shots but stood his ground to allow our offense to shine and dominate the game. Kevin had a hat trick and 4 assists for a 7 point night and Kyle had a hat trick as well and added 2 assists for a 5 point night. Steve and Neil also faired well tallying 3 points each. In the past two games Kyle and Kevin have combined for an astonishing 25 points showing just how deadly they are when playing together. Our next two games are against the first and second place teams so it leaves us very confident knowing that we have these two players contributing so much to the team.

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Rebels Double Up Titans

After not playing together for the last 8 games Kyle and Kevin were reunited on the first line and showed what a force they were by getting 13 points between the two of them in an 8-4 win versus the Hi-Tech Titans. Kyle came back from missing 3 games in a big way scoring just 21 seconds into the game then scoring two more to give him the natural hat trick. He added 3 assists for a 6 point night while Kevin ended with a hat trick as well and 4 assists for a 7 point total. Cody added the other two goals for the Rebels. The all time record between these two teams now sits at 2-2-1.

Friday, June 06, 2008

Rebels Get "Assassinated"

The Rebels lost 6-4 to the S.S. Assassins. The Rebels did not hold the lead once this game and every time we would start to mount a comeback the Assassins would answer with a goal of their own to shut us back down. With the loss the Rebels now move into 5th place, 5 points back of the 1st ranked Ultimate Warriors. We're more than half way through the season now and the division is tighter than any other one we have played in before with just 9 points separating 1st place from 13th place.

Rebels Win Battle for Fourth Place

The Rebels and Entourage went into their game both tied with 17 points and the Rebels came out with the two point win. The game kicked off with an awkward start as Nestor let in a very uncharacteristically shaky goal off a dump in from centre. Not to be discouraged though, he bounced back to play yet another solid game allowing our team to score the next 5 goals in a row. Entourage was able to add one more to their tally with a penalty shot in the dying minutes but it was too little too late. Neil had a great game with 4 points on the night and Dustin and Kevin weren't far behind with 3 points each.

Rebels Can't Calm the Chaos

It was a close game right up until the end, yet even with some of the heroic efforts by Dustin who played net in place Nestor, the Rebels came up short in a 5-3 loss to Team Chaos. The Rebels scoring came from all over the roster with Wade and Mark each picking up a goal and an assist. The Rebel scoring was rounded out by Kevin, who's quick shot from the slot brought the Rebels to within one with plenty of time on the clock. Team Chaos' final goal came off a lucky break moments after a game-saving stop off of Matt right in front of the Chaos net. The loss brings the Rebels into a three-way tie for fourth place in the division.

No Overtime This Time As Rebels Win Second Straight Game

The Rebels won their second game in a row by beating out the Penetrators 5-3. The line of Kyle, Dean, and Cody contributed all the points this game... Kyle had a hat trick and two assists, Dean had two goals, and Cody helped out with two assists. The Penetrators had a lot of offense but Nestor was on his game stopping most of the never ending shots that came his way. The win now places us in 3rd place overall but in a 3 way tie for first place with the Ultimate Warriors and Team Chaos. Our next game will be a very important one as we play Team Chaos and a win will help us secure that first spot in Division 9.

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Rebels Play Third Straight Overtime

The Rebels played in their third straight overtime with this one having better results than the previous two. The Rebels were down, and what seemed to be out, but rallied scoring 3 goals in 2 minutes and 5 seconds to get the win. Barry scored with 1:36 remaining in the game then just 44 seconds later scored again to tie the game up and send things to overtime. 29 seconds into OT the Rebels sealed the deal with John scoring from the slot.

Sunday, May 11, 2008

Rebels Play Second Straight Overtime Game

The Rebels went into OT for the second time in two games but had a better outcome this time around managing a tie versus The Awesomes. The Rebels took the lead 4-3 with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game but The Awesomes managed to score on the powerplay with just 13 seconds left to force overtime. Nothing was decided in the extra frame giving both teams a point in the standings. We were averaging 20 penalty minutes per game but only had 6 minutes this game so this is a marked improvement from the first quarter of the season.

Sunday, May 04, 2008

Rebels Lose In Overtime

The Rebels lost 3-2 to the Monstars in OT bringing our season record to 6 and 2. It was another close game with the score tied at 2 at the end of the first half and no scoring by either team in the second. The Rebels ran into penalty trouble most of the game but were able to kill them off to keep the game close. That could only go on for so long though and the Monstars were finally able to score on the powerplay which, unfortunately, was in overtime.

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Rebels Winning Streak Ends

The Rebels suffered their first lost of the season after being defeated by the Blazers 6-4. The game was back and forth with the Rebels playing catch up, answering back after each goal by the Blazers to keep things tied up. It wasn't until the last 5 minutes of the game that the Blazers were able to score two quick goals to take the win. Matt answered the call to have more guys step up by scoring two goals, one of which was a dump in from centre that went over the goalie's head and wound up in the net. Next up is a game against the Monstars which is made up of a lot of players from the Winners from last year.

Saturday, April 26, 2008

Rebels Win Sixth Straight Game

The Rebels beat out the Pylons by a narrow margin of 2-1 to win their sixth game in a row. Barry scored the winning goal short handed by hustling on the forecheck and stripping the ball from the opposition behind their net then coming out front and squeaking it past the goaltender. The Rebels are now the only team in the division who are still undefeated which puts us in sole position of first place!

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Rebels Find Cure For The Plague

The Rebels won their fifth game in a row by defeating the Plague 5-2. The first half ended in a 2-2 draw but we opened it up in the second scoring 3 more goals and not allowing any from the opposition. The score sheet was more varied which is a good sign in that others are starting to step up. Both Neil and Paul scored their first goals of the season and Manny tallied his first point getting an assist. As a side note, we now have as many wins as we did during the entire winter season which again goes to show how well we play on the larger surface.

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Rebels Win Fourth Straight Game

The Rebels are now 4 and 0 after defeating the Ringers 4-3. The first half ended with a 2-2 tie then the Ringers took the lead early in the second half. The Rebels tied it up half way through the second and then got the winning goal shorthanded with just over two minutes remaining. Kyle had a 3 point night which now brings him to a tie for the points race with Kevin, who looks to be slumping a bit lately. Steve's corrective eye surgery has seemed to correct his hockey skills as well; he scored two goals and would have had the hat trick in the dieing seconds had it not been for a post. The real star of this game though was Nestor. He played fantastic coming up with some huge key saves to help us get the win.

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Rebels Win Big over "The Big Kiss"

The Rebels cruised to an easy win over Les Gros Bec (The Big Kiss) outscoring them 5-1 to bring our record to 3 and 0. Kevin scored twice to bring his point total to 9 in just three games. Kyle had a multiple point night as well to bring his total for the season to 8. Kevin has scored almost half our goals so far, which is great, but is also a reminder that we all need to pick up our games to help out. Once that happens it's a guarantee we will be unstoppable.

Friday, April 11, 2008

Rebels Give More Than 5% To Get Win

The Rebels won their second game in a row downing 5 PerCent by a score of 6-5. We were outplayed in the first half which ended with us down 3-2 but we came back and controlled the second half scoring 4 more goals. 5 Percent tried for the comeback scoring with 1:18 left in the game then pulling their goalie but still came up short. Kevin was a big reason for the win, scoring 4 of our 6 goals and Kyle contributed largely as well with 3 assists.

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

Rebels Win Season Opener Despite Parade to the Penalty Box

The Rebels beat the Razorbacks 5-1 despite being on the penalty kill for more than half the game. The refs were blowing their whistle more times than they were exhaling and it's a wonder how they didn't pass out as a result. We killed off numerous 5 on 4's and a handful of 5 on 3's and the Razorbacks only managed to break Nestor's shut out bid on the power play with just over 3 minutes left in the game. Kyle and Kevin both had two point games and Dustin netted 2 goals and added 1 assist for a 3 point night. Comments will be made to the league about the reffing concern but more than likely it's going to come down to us all having to adjust to the new system.

Rebels Dominate in Exhibition Game

The Rebels lost 6-5 to the White Phantoms in the winter league but rolled to an easy 7-1 upset in this exhibition game which goes to show just how different our team is from the winter to the summer. We were off to a bit of a shaky start which allowed the Phantoms to score first and take their only lead of the game. After about 15 minutes though we smartened up and took control scoring 7 goals in a row. When we have success in our defensive zone (like we did) by not allowing odd man rushes it gives us the confidence to play well offensively and this game was a great example of that.

Summer Season About To Start

The 4th summer season for the Rebels begins on Monday April 7th @ 8:15pm at the East soccer Centre with a game against the Razorbacks. There is a history between the two teams with the Rebels coming out on top with a record of 4-1-1.

We also have an exhibition game vs. the White Phantoms on Thursday April 3rd @ 7:30pm at the West Soccer Centre. There's also a history there in which the two teams are split with two wins each.

The 2nd annual Skills Competition took place at the last practice that saw Kevin hold his title as the fastest runner and Steve was crowned king of the shootout.

Rebels Lose Final Game of Winter Season

The Rebels lost their final game of the season to the 1st place Outcast by a score of 7-4. A few positives from that game was Dustin netting 3 goals for a natural hat trick and Mark stepping up and playing a solid game despite the final score.

Although the season may have turned out to be a bit of a disappointment the Rebels still did make an improvement from last winter. Last winter we went 4-17-0 while this year we improved to 5-17-2.

Rebels Playoff Hopes Gone with Defeat to Mafia

The Rebels fought the Mafia for the tenth and final playoff spot but came up short losing 4-3. The Rebels were up 1-0 at the half and then added a quick goal at the start of the second to pad their lead. The Mafia then came back with 4 unanswered goals to take the lead. Cory was pulled with 1:30 left on the clock to bring out the extra attacker and Kevin then closed the lead to with one with just 45 seconds left . The Rebels had a few more quality chances but weren't able to get that last goal to tie things up.

Wednesday, March 05, 2008

Rebels Lose to Entourage

The Rebels lost 7-2 to the second place Entourage. Once again, we played well but came up short in the end. The next game will pretty much decide the future for the Rebels in the post season. Both the Rebels and Mafia are still tied for the last playoff spot so a win this Friday is crucial to securing that final spot.

Monday, February 25, 2008

Rebels Claw a Win From the Grizzlies

The Rebels playoff hopes are alive with a 9-5 win over the Grizzlies. It wasn't exactly a hard earned win considering the other team did not have a goalie and had to dress a player in borrowed equipment, but it was a win nonetheless. Matt got a hat trick (which is dedicated to Emily, by the way) and Dustin had a 4 point night with 2 goals and 2 assists. The Rebels are now in 11th place but tied in points with the 10th place Mafia and with just 3 games left it's going to come down to the wire. I think us making the playoffs is in the cards though... out stats show Cody has played 21 games, has 21 goals, and 21 assists. That must be some sort of sign no?! Either that or he needs to get to the casino ASAP and play some blackjack!

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Rebels Lose to Hellions for Third Straight Time

In a schedule mix up the Rebels and Hellions ended up meeting a total of three times this season and unfortunately came up short all three times losing 9-5 in the latest match up. The Rebels did play well considering there was no goalie in net for the first 15 minutes. John was able to get some equipment and go between the pipes for the rest of the game and did pretty decent job. Dustin and Devin both played well tallying 3 points each; Dustin with the hat trick and Devin with a goal and two assists. With just 4 games left in the season there's still a strong chance to make the playoffs if we play hard enough.

Thursday, February 07, 2008

Rebels Lose to White Phantoms

An evenly matched game, and a tough loss. In a game that showed a lot of Rebel grit, the Rebels battled back from an early two goal deficit to take the lead and hold it for the majority of the game. As a result of a bit of penalty trouble combined with some lucky bounces, the White Phantoms were able to squeak out a 6 to 5 win over the Rebels in the last five minutes of the game. Regardless of the loss, the team continued to show recent improvement with a 1-1-1 record over the last three games. The Rebels are currently in the 12th and last place but are only 3 points out of 8th so the last 5 games of the season are going to have to be hard fought in order to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Rebels and Bullies End in a Draw

With the history between these two teams we can always be sure of two things... it will be a clean game and it will be a close game, and this match up was no exception. The Rebels were up 2-1 at the half then added to their lead early in the second. The Bullies then scored two by the halfway mark to tie things up but the Rebels answered back with two of their own to tally the score at 5-3 with just under 3 minutes remaining. The Bullies then came back with two unanswered goals, 1 with 1:34 left and the tieing goal with just 36 seconds left to send it to overtime. Chances went back and forth between the two teams in OT but neither could capitalize and the game ended in a draw.

Rebels Avoid Assassination Attempt

It looked like it was going to be "another one of those games" after seeing only 8 players show up to the game versus 15 players for the S.S. Assassins. The Rebels played hard though and came out on top after the first half with the score being 3-2. The Assassins then tied things up just 6 seconds into the second half but the Rebels answered back with Cody getting his 3rd and 4th goals of the night to give a two goal lead. The Assassins brought it to within 1 half way through the second but Dustin sealed the deal getting a breakaway goal with just over 8 minutes left. In the dying minutes the Rebels went on the penalty kill and the Assassins pulled their goalie but were still unable to get anything past Cory and our defense. The things that really helped win the game, besides Cody getting 4 goals, was our defensive game. Very few shots got through to the net because we were getting our sticks in the shooting lane and causing a lot of deflections and Cory was allowing very few rebounds when the shots did get through.

Rebels Run Out of Gas Against Diesel

The Rebels lost to Diesel 10-1. With a bench about half the size of Diesel, the Rebels were pretty much dead tired by the end of the fist half but ended the period only down 4-1. The second half was all Diesel as they ran circles around us scoring another 6 goals. The loss now puts in in last place in our division but still only 2 points out of a playoff spot.

Rebels Get Punished

The Rebels have lost in both their meetings with the Punishers this time by a margin of 7-2. We did play a good game considering we had only 9 players compared to 14 on the other team. Mark played very well in goal (despite his pads being on backwards) and Devin is beginning to stand out in his new role playing forward with 4 points in 3 games.

In other news... The All Star Game is coming up on Jan. 20th and the Rebels have selected Cody to represent the team. Good luck Cody and have fun!

In other, other news... Ball Hockey Edmonton has sent out the team packages and I will be receiving them soon so it's time to start thinking about the summer season. Hopefully we'll have the entire old crew back (along with a few new faces) to make another run at the championship!
